Mission Statement

The First Tee of Brunswick County will impact, influence and inspire the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that build character and citizenship, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf and other enduring character-building activities.

Intent

The First Tee of Brunswick County intends to fundamentally change communities for the better in Southeastern North Carolina through The First Tee Life Skills Experience. We intend to become a completely self-sufficient, endowed organization. When, and as appropriate, we will establish programming in Columbus, New Hanover, Bladen, Pender, Onslow and any other desiring county.

A Chinese proverb says for one year, plant rice; for 100 years, plant trees; for a thousand years, educate your youth. TFTBC is on the 1000-year campaign.

We will achieve change in the community through The First Tee Life Skills Experience Curriculum (nine core values, nine healthy habits, NSP, SDP, after school/Saturdays, home office alignment: curriculum/coaching philosophy, affiliates, and the North Carolina Life Skills and Leadership Academy).

By 2014, TFTBC SDP will involve 4000+ young people. TFT Camp Lejeune will continue to grow.

We are network leaders in Public Relations and communications.

The Academy (NCLSLA) will be year-round (weekends in non-summer) with local, regional and national participants.

We will develop post-sixth grade SDP.

TFTBC annual National School Program Champions Challenge will be an NSP key event.

TFTBC will be the Flagship Chapter for the Central Atlantic providing example and expertise to other Chapters. Set the bar.

We are doing this (campaign) to make our communities better, more prosperous, to have generational impact, influence and inspiration; to lower the dropout rate, increase the graduation rate; to build productive citizens & leaders; and because our medium (our campus, golf, affiliates, volunteers) and culture are here, strong, and readily available.

The keys to success are volunteers in-depth (lead & assistant coaches, campus upkeep/maintenance, academy, administrative, PR); a committed, passionate, working, cohesive, diverse Board of Directors; county-wide School Day Program and schools partnership; a dynamic, skillful Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer; Funding strength & development; and Diversity.
